(Exact start and end dates vary year to year)
May-June-July: Guides fish from Boat Tues-Saturday. 6:00am-6:00pm
July and August: Bank Fishing for Red Salmon is open every day.
What to fish for?
King Salmon (Chinook) — First Run: Mid May to July; Second Run: July 1st to July 31 (last day of season)
Red Salmon (Sockeye) — First Run: Early June to July 1st ; Second Run: July August
Silver Salmon (Coho) — Late July to October
Pink Salmon (Humpbacks) — Late July to Late August (Even Years Only)
Rainbow Trout — June 15 – October 31
Dolly Varden and Lake Trout — Entire Year
Guided Kenai River Fishing Highlights
- 8-hr full day of fishing. Exception: If you catch and take a King Salmon you have to go off the water ( Stop Fishing) per State of Alaska law.
- All gear included. You just have to show up with your fishing license and tags and we’ll have the rest supplied. If you have any special equipment needs please notify us in advance. You may also bring your own gear if you have preferred equipment.
- Local Knowledge. I’ve been fishing and guiding on the Kenai river for over 55 years. I know the river & know how to adjust if the fish aren’t biting.
- Reasonable Cost for Expert Knowledge. Exclusive King Salmon fishing: $325/person. All other fishing: $275/person. 10% Active military and veteran discounts available.
Kenai River Fishing Day Itinerary
5:15am. Meet at boat launch ( King Salmon Fishing)
5:30am. Need to be on the boat.
6:00am. Start fishing. (Kenai River Guides Cannot Fish Before 6:00Am – Off The Water By 6:00PM. May – June – July
1:30pm. Come off the water with our catch in hand. Typically we will pick an 8 hour time frame for fishing. The earlier we get out the better to avoid the crowds.
After 1:30pm. Pull up to the dock, get off the boat, filet and processing the fish. Take fish to processor for final processing and packaging. they will get the fish bagged.
For a $1.40 finished weight fee we can completely process the fish, however you can process and package yourselves.
